Equipment

  • Air fryer Any size works
  • Ice bath bowl Large bowl with ice water
  • Tongs or slotted spoon For transferring eggs

Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs cold from refrigerator

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 250°F (120°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  • Place cold eggs directly in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving space between them. Cook for 15 minutes for hard-boiled (13 minutes for jammy, 10 minutes for soft-boiled).
  • While eggs cook, prepare an ice bath with cold water and ice cubes in a large bowl.
  • Immediately transfer cooked eggs to the ice bath using tongs and let sit for 5 minutes to stop cooking.
  • Gently tap eggs on counter, roll to crack shell all over, then peel under running water for easiest peeling.

Notes

  • Temperature matters: 250°F is the sweet spot for evenly cooked eggs without rubbery whites.
  • Don't skip the ice bath - it stops the cooking process and prevents gray-green rings around the yolks.
  • Timing guide: 10 minutes = soft-boiled, 13 minutes = jammy yolk, 15 minutes = hard-boiled.
  • Older eggs (7-10 days old) peel much easier than fresh eggs.
  • Store peeled eggs in an airtight container with damp paper towel in fridge for up to 5 days.
  • For meal prep, make a batch and use throughout the week for salads, snacks, or breakfast bowls.
  • Air fryer models vary slightly - adjust time by 1-2 minutes if needed after testing one egg.
  • No oil or cooking spray needed - eggs cook perfectly in their shells.
  • Can cook 2-12 eggs at once depending on your air fryer size without changing time.
  • The ice bath makes peeling incredibly easy compared to traditional boiled eggs.
