Equipment

  • Small bowl or jar with lid for shaking
  • Whisk or fork for mixing

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise 120ml
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard 60ml
  • 1/4 cup honey 60ml or 85g
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard 30ml
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar 15ml
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika optional, for color and mild heat
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and paprika if using.
  • Whisk together until smooth and well combined, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • For a tangier sauce, increase the Dijon mustard to 1/3 cup and reduce the honey slightly.
  • Make it spicier by adding 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce.
  • For a lighter version, substitute Greek yogurt for half or all of the mayonnaise.
  • This sauce thickens slightly when refrigerated; thin with a teaspoon of water or lemon juice if needed.
  • Use whole grain mustard instead of yellow mustard for added texture and a rustic appearance.
  • The sauce can be made up to 2 weeks ahead and stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
  • Perfect for chicken nuggets, pretzels, sandwiches, burgers, or as a salad dressing when thinned with a bit of olive oil.
  • For a vegan version, use vegan mayonnaise and substitute maple syrup for honey.
  • Adjust sweetness to your preference by adding more or less honey – start with 3 tablespoons if you prefer less sweet.
  • Let the sauce sit for 15-30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together beautifully.
