This peach milkshake recipe is my go-to treat the moment summer peaches hit the farmers market. It only takes four main ingredients and a blender to make, and it tastes richer than anything you'd get from a drive-thru window. Made with real, ripe peaches for genuine peach flavor in every sip, this thick and creamy shake comes together in under ten minutes.

Instructions
Wash, peel, and pit the peaches. Slice into rough chunks. Set aside about half a cup of sliced peaches for later and place the rest in the blender.
Add the whole milk to the blender with the majority of sliced peaches. Blend on medium-high for 20-30 seconds until smooth. Scrape down the sides if needed.
Add the vanilla ice cream, sugar, almond extract, and salt. Blend on medium-high for 20-30 seconds until thick, creamy, and pale peachy pink. Check consistency and adjust with more ice cream or milk if needed.
Add the reserved half cup of sliced peaches and pulse just a few times to break into small flecks, not pureed completely.
Pour into two tall glasses immediately. Top with whipped cream and garnish with a fresh peach slice on the rim. Serve with a wide straw and long spoon.
Notes
Use peaches that give slightly when pressed with your thumb - underripe peaches will taste bland and starchy.
Chill your peaches in the fridge before blending so they don't melt the ice cream too quickly.
If your peaches are very juicy, cut back on the milk slightly to prevent a thin shake.
Frozen peaches work great when fresh ones aren't in season and actually help thicken the shake.
Don't over-blend once the ice cream goes in - blending too long will melt it and thin out your shake.
Taste before serving and adjust the sugar, since peach sweetness varies a lot depending on ripeness.
For a dairy-free version, swap the whole milk for oat milk or coconut milk and use dairy-free vanilla ice cream.
If you don't have almond extract, leave it out or swap in half a teaspoon of vanilla extract instead.
Milkshakes are best served immediately and do not store well once fully blended and melted.
If you have leftovers, pour into a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 2 weeks. To serve again, let sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes, then re-blend until smooth.
