  • Whisk or fork To blend everything smoothly
  • Measuring cups and spoons For accurate ingredient proportions
  • Rubber spatula To scrape down sides and transfer sauce
  • Airtight container or mason jar For storing the finished sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise 240ml
  • 1/4 cup ketchup 60ml
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 30ml
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard 15ml
  • 1 tablespoon honey 15ml
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika 5ml
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder 5ml
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder 2.5ml
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1.25ml, adjust to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1.25ml
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar 15ml
  • hot sauce to taste, optional

Instructions

  • Assemble all ingredients on the counter and measure each precisely using proper measuring cups and spoons.
  • Add mayonnaise to a medium mixing bowl, then spoon in the ketchup on top.
  • Pour in Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, honey, and apple cider vinegar.
  • Sprinkle smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and black pepper evenly across the surface.
  • Whisk vigorously for 1-2 minutes using circular motions until completely smooth with no streaks visible.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more honey for sweetness, vinegar for tang, or hot sauce for heat.
  • Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Use high-quality mayonnaise like Duke's for the best flavor and texture
  • Let the sauce rest for at least 30 minutes before serving so the flavors can fully develop and marry together
  • If sauce is too thick, thin it with a teaspoon of water or lemon juice at a time until you reach desired consistency
  • Start with less cayenne and hot sauce, then add more gradually to hit your preferred heat level
  • Check that spices haven't expired for the most robust flavor
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks
  • Always use a clean spoon when scooping out sauce to prevent contamination and extend shelf life
  • Take sauce out of fridge 10 minutes before serving for the best flavor and consistency
  • For a spicier version, add an extra 1/2 teaspoon cayenne and 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • For smoky BBQ variation, increase smoked paprika to 2 teaspoons and add 1 tablespoon BBQ sauce
