Equipment

  • Large glass pitcher at least 2 quarts capacity
  • Sharp chef's knife
  • Cutting board
  • Citrus juicer if using fresh juice
  • Measuring cups
  • Long-handled spoon for mixing
  • Serving glasses
  • Muddler or wooden spoon optional, for pressing fruit

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pomegranate juice 475ml, 100% pure juice
  • 2 cups white grape juice 475ml, 100% pure juice
  • 1 cup orange juice 240ml, freshly squeezed preferred
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice 60ml, about 2 lemons
  • 2-3 cups sparkling water or club soda 475-710ml, cold
  • 1 large orange thinly sliced
  • 1 large lemon thinly sliced
  • 1 large apple any variety, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries 150g, hulled and halved
  • 1 cup blueberries 150g, fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 cup raspberries 75g, fresh or frozen
  • 1 cinnamon stick optional

For Garnish

  • fresh mint leaves
  • ice cubes for serving

Instructions

  • Wash all fruit thoroughly, then slice orange and lemon into thin rounds (1/4 inch thick) and cut in half. Core apple and slice thinly, hull and halve strawberries, leave berries whole.
  • Layer oranges, lemons, apples, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries in the pitcher. Add cinnamon stick if using, then gently press fruit with muddler to release some juices.
  • Pour pomegranate juice, white grape juice, orange juice, and lemon juice over the fruit. Stir gently to combine and ensure fruit is evenly distributed.
  • Cover pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (4-6 hours ideal) to allow flavors to infuse. Stir occasionally if possible.
  • Just before serving, add 2-3 cups cold sparkling water and stir gently to maintain carbonation. Adjust to taste with more sparkling water or a touch of honey if needed.
  • Fill glasses with ice, ladle sangria into each glass including fruit pieces, garnish with fresh mint, and serve immediately while cold and fizzy.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe fruit at peak ripeness for best flavor and visual appeal
  • Don't skip the chill time - at least 2 hours allows fruit to release natural juices and flavors
  • Always add sparkling water right before serving to maintain fizz and carbonation
  • Use 100% pure juice without added sugars for the most natural, best flavor
  • Thin fruit slices allow more surface area for flavor infusion and look prettier
  • Make ahead up to 24 hours in advance, just add sparkling water before serving
  • For less sweetness, add more lemon juice or increase sparkling water ratio
  • Frozen berries work great and release juices readily as they thaw
  • Store leftovers in refrigerator for up to 3 days; strain fruit after 24 hours for longer storage
  • Freeze sangria base (without sparkling water) for up to 3 months; thaw and add fresh sparkling water
